The official training program of the Rebecca Davis Dance Company integrates intensive training in and performance of multiple genres of dance with an understanding of history, literature, and social issues. At Rebecca Davis Dance, students of all levels are trained in ballet, modern, jazz, choreography, and anatomy in an environment that respects students' academic needs and helps them to achieve an artistic, technical, kinesthetic, and intellectual level of merit. The program not only develops children into well-rounded dancers, but also into thoughtful, articulate members of society. It prepares students for the demands and requirements of professional artists pursuing 21st century careers in the performing arts. Faculty includes Artistic Director Rebecca Davis and members of the Rebecca Davis Dance Company Sergey Pakharev, Jillian Mitchell, Matthew Thomas, and Cedric Greene. Pre-Professional Training (PPT) Programs
Goal Note that the Pre-Professional Training Program is scheduled after school and does not serve as an academic program. Programs 2009/2010
Optional company class on Saturdays when the Company is on contract. PPT Program II - for ages 12-14
Eligibility & Selection Students between the ages of 12 to 18 years are eligible to audition for entrance into the PPT Programs each semester. Entrance is by audition only. For PPT I, applicants are expected to have a strong foundation in ballet and some basic training in jazz and/or modern. Auditioners who do not prove eligible for PPT I can be placed either into PPT II or the Young Dancer Program. Students do not have to be residents of Philadelphia, but housing accommodations are not provided.Enrollment is limited. This ensures students have the experience of training with peers who display commitment and dedication to developing their talent into a competitive skill set. Young Dancer Program For ages 8-11. This program is for students with limited knowledge of ballet. Students can enroll for up to three classes per week.A minimum of two classes is required, one being ballet:
Jazz - Modern - Hip-Hop *Advanced students may take jazz and modern classes offered in the PPT Program I on a drop-in basis.*There is a weekly open hip-hop class for all levels and ages.
